"We can't all be Amish, but in many ways, we would do well to follow their example." says author Mindy Starns Clark. Clark, who lives near the Amish community of Lancaster County, PA is able to share an intimate portrait of the life of the Amish. She offers insight to her readers as to how we could assimilate some of the faith and values of the Amish.

This delightful book is a collaborative effort filled with Amish wisdom, delicious recipes from family kitchens, and exquisite illustrations. Mindy Starns Clark's contribution is the knowledge of the Amish community. Georgia Varozza brings family recipes to complement Starns' writing. And the lovely illustrations are by Laurie Snow Hein.

Individual chapters are dedicated to such concepts as joy, blessings, love of family and children, hard work, community, faith, celebrations and humility. Readers will find "Takeaway Values," "Fascinating Facts," "Georgia's Amish Table Tidbit," a recipe or two, and an occasional "In Their Own Words" segment.

To read this book is to take time out of the hectic day-to-day goings on to experience peace and tranquility and to ponder taking to heart some of those simple joys.
