Story Circle Book Reviews

reviewing books by, for, and about women

November 2010, Vol. 3, No 10

We provide a review venue for small presses, university and regional presses, and for women authors whose books may not be reviewed elsewhere. We are selective in the books we review and choose only those we think are worth reading. If you're looking for mass-market, high-profile books, you'll find those reviewed on other sites. If you're looking for strong, insightful, well-written books by women of strength and courage, you'll find them here. With over a thousand reviews and a team of sixty-some reviewers, Story Circle Book Reviews is the largest and most comprehensive women's book review site on the Internet. Texas Through Women's Eyes: The Twentieth Century Experience

From Trilla Pando's review:
Texas kids study plenty of Texas history as they work their way through the public schools. I know I did. So did my kids. Davy Crockett of the coonskin cap and the Alamo, General Sam Houston, right on through Vice-President (under Franklin Roosevelt) "Cactus Jack" Garner and President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Today, I am sure, it covers the two President Bushes. We did governors. We did war heroes. More...

True Words From
Real Women

"The perils of ambulatory reading: If you have never said 'Excuse me' to a parking meter or bashed your shins on a fireplug, you are probably wasting too much valuable reading time."
